The Ocean Telegraph March

The cover of the sheet music has a number of references to the 1858 cable history; there are four clickable areas which will bring up larger images of each section of the illustration.

To celebrate the 150th anniversary of the first Atlantic cable, Professor Nigel Linge of Salford University organized a series of events at the Manchester Museum of Science and Industry in October 2008.

Presented at the Museum for what was probably the first time in public since 1858 was a new recording of the Ocean Telegraph March by pianist Dr Robin Dewhurst, School of Media, Music and Performance, University of Salford. The performance was recorded by Brendan Williams and Richard Rock of the School of Media, Music and Performance in the Peel Hall of the University of Salford.
